As the end of the fall sports season approaches, the Girls tennis team has won the majority of their games . Holding second place in their league, team captain senior Jeanette Weber and coaches Michael Alarcon ‘s and Vincent Salumbides’s hard work has certainly paid off.

To prepare for the season, tennis conditioning began in early July, which the team did not have last year. “Tennis is a sport that involves a lot of running and conditioning helped a lot of the new players prepare for that. It also helped the people who are somewhat new to tennis learn the fundamentals and basics of the game, which helped everything run smoother,” Jeanette Weber said.

Last year, El Camino’s girls’ tennis team barely surpassed third place and ended their season in a three way tie for second place in league. Half Moon Bay High School is the first place team and is currently undefeated. The Lady Colts are the only contenders for the second place slot with only three losses. Thanks to a few key players like Weber with eleven wins and one loss and sophomore Danica Alfajora with seven wins and five losses in league, the Lady Colts have had a successful season.
